Recording
Camera or microphone unavailable
Open iOS Settings → Apps → Backwords, then enable Camera and Microphone. Return to Backwords and try again.
The record button is not ready
In the Daily Challenge, listen to the mystery word first. Then press and hold the recording control for the length of your attempt.
No sound during playback
Raise media volume, disconnect unintended Bluetooth audio devices, and confirm Silent Mode or Focus settings are not affecting playback.
A flip gets stuck processing
Keep Backwords in the foreground for a moment. If it does not finish, close and reopen the App, check available device storage, and record a shorter clip.
Saving and sharing
Saving to Photos
Tap Save after a reverse-video result. If saving is denied, open iOS Settings → Apps → Backwords → Photos and allow Add Photos Only. Backwords does not need permission to browse your library.
Sharing a clip
Tap Share and choose a destination from the iOS share sheet. Backwords sends the clip only after you choose and confirm a destination. Sharing options depend on the apps installed on your device.
Get permission from anyone shown or heard in a clip before sharing it, especially when children are present.
History and storage
Change video retention
Open Menu → Settings → History & Storage → Video retention. Choose one week, two weeks, 30 days, or Keep all. Starred videos are kept regardless of this setting.
Clear stored videos
In History & Storage, choose Clear unstarred videos. History entries remain, but their video will no longer play. To remove all local Backwords data, delete the App from your device. Videos you already saved to Photos must be deleted in Photos.
Content and purchases
A word or pack does not load
Confirm your device is online, return Backwords to the foreground, and try again. Previously downloaded content may remain available offline, but new and purchased content requires a connection to download.
Restore a purchase
Make sure you are signed into the same Apple Account used for the purchase. Relaunch the App while online. If Apple completed a purchase but access does not appear, include the pack name and App version in your support email—never send payment-card information or your Apple Account password.
Request a refund
Apple processes App Store payments and refund requests. Use Apple’s Report a Problem service or contact Apple Support.
Privacy
Your recordings, guesses, player names, and gameplay history stay on your device unless you intentionally save or share a clip. Backwords has no account and cannot retrieve or remotely delete on-device information. See the Privacy Policy for full details and deletion steps.
